If your horse is sore, get Back On Track

When I got my horse all those years ago, I bought him a rug to remove the sweat quickly after the work out. I got a Nag Rags. Very thin and very effective, I was pleased. Here is their link for the curious out there:

But as time goes by, new technology comes in that helps keeping the horse in good shape. Back On track is a good example:

The brand focuses on equipments that keep the muscles warm and thus helps tense or less flexible horses. Here are two very good points you can find on their product descriptions:
  • Made with our state-of-the-art Welltex fabric which reflects your horse's own natural body heat
  • The thermal warmth helps increase the blood circulation and helps your horse's muscles recover, stay looser and become less inflamed
This is not only great to use after the workout, it can also be put on as a "pre-warming" rug before an intense session.

A friend of mine used it once and became an absolute addict of the brand. Her horse has osteoarthritis and can be very stiff while warming up. This brand has been very helpful for her and I am sure she would join me in recommending it to anyone in need of a small miracle for troublesome muscles.

The best blankets for the outdoors

Almost 2 years ago, I had to retire my 19 year old horse as he had serious allergies to dust and hay.

After a lifetime in stables going out a few hours everyday day in the field then coming back to a comfy stall, I had to make sure that being out 24/7 would not be a problem. There already was a medium sized shed in the field which I enlarged with the help of family and friends. But as horses do tend to stay outside even if it rains, I wanted a good blanket that would hold in any kind of weather.

After buying a cheap light blanket and seeing the lining torn after a few weeks, I decided to go back to the best of the best: the Rambo rugs.

I had bought my first Rambo with the money I received on my 18th birthday and gave it to a friend more then 10 years later, in an impeccable condition. So I bought Rambo again, a Rambo wug lite in beautiful purple. And my big plum of a horse has been more then happy since then.

Rambo is an Horseware Ireland brand that I recommend with a 100% confidence. The price tag is a bit high but worth it, and for those who prefer to start smaller, they also have more affordable brands like Rhino. If you have a delicate horse you need to leave outside often, this is a great product to have.

Hope this helps,

Enjoy and protect your ride!

About May's basket

For you and your horse

Hi, I'm May, founder of Virtuorse, a disruptive project and a work in progress. While I prep for the big launch, I might as well start writing about the context as well: horses.

In these post you will find stories about me, my horses, my friends and what we learned taking care of our beloved companions.

My 5 cents on horses really. I have had a horse for more than 20 years (since 1992). And like any horse owner, there were ups and downs and a lot of lessons to be learned. I will try and bring back memories to share them all with you!
